High up into the air – that’s the motto when paragliding at the skisport resorts. This flying sport is perfect for all those who crave something exceptional for their summer or winter holidays. If you want to take off, you can do so in Lackenhof on the Ötscher, in Hinterstoder or in Kössen.
Due to the amazing thermal uplift at the three resorts, there’s hardly a better starting location for paragliders than from the regions’ summits.
You’re looking for the best paragliding conditions in Tyrol? Then consider yourself lucky, because you’ve found them! At the skisport resort of Kössen, there are perfect flight conditions thanks to the exceptional thermal uplift on the northern side of the Unterberghorn.
There are also two landing sites for paragliders where they can glide high above the Kaiserwinkl during beautiful sunshine and in close proximity to the valley station.
Good to know: Kössen is THE pioneer location for paragliding in Austria and known far beyond the borders of the country. It’s not only the competition site for the European championship but also the training location of many top athletes of the flying scene.
The Ötscher offers several options to take off – quite literally. A ride with the chairlift to the Schutzhaus and a short ascent take you to the most popular starting location on the Hüttenkogel. Once up in the air, you’ll be in a state of awe!
Numerous summits of the Mostviertel region surround you during your flight over the mountains. Add to that the amazing views of the neighbouring resort of Hochkar, the Gemeindealpe and the surrounding lakes. Fantastic and definitely worth trying!
Walk and fly on the Ötscher: From multiple sides, additional hiking routes lead up the mountain and towards the Ötscher’s summit at 1,893 metres above sea level. Once you’ve reached the summit, you can take off and glide over the roofs of the Mostviertel region – with exceptional thermal uplift!
You’re in the mood to climb His Majesty, the Ötscher, and to sail down towards the valley with your paraglider?
Breathe it in, the crystal-clear mountain air, feel the wind and soak up the unique, picture-perfect mountain views. At the Phyrn-Priel resort, you can glide over the summits of Upper Austria both in summer and in winter.
