The most beautiful backcountry skiing tours

In The High-alpine Terrain

Backcountry tours at Großglockner/Heiligenblut Ski Resort will take you as close to nature as possible. The wide-open area around Mount Großglockner is paradise for nature lovers and freeriding enthusiasts.

The area offers four very safe ski routes taking you up to the most beautiful spots of the resort. Finest powder snow and fresh mountain air combined with bright sunshine – this is the perfect winter day at Großglockner.

 

Kasereck Tour

A Tour Between 2, 200 And 1,750m In Elevation

 

Coming from  West/South-West: 

Kasereck-Tour is a rather easy ski tour that starts at the valley station of Fallbichl Panorama Lift and guarantees a wonderful winter scenery.

The tour leads you up to a calm area of the Großglockner High-alpine Road. There you go back to Rossbach mid-station.

More Details:

At Fallbichl (Panorama Lift  Station) to  Römerhütte, turn left to the valley of Tauerntal. Then cross the Kasereck hiking trail. Continue on Glocknerstraße until you reach the winter bar.  The road above the bar leads you back to the mid-station.

 

Fleisstal Tour

A Tour Between 2,600 And 1,750m In Elevation

East of Großglockner:

Fleisstal Tour is a very demanding tour that starts at Schareck. It is only recommended for experienced skiers as the upper section is very bold.

The descent ends at Fleissbach barrage dam. From there it´s only 10 minutes to the lift station.

More Details:

The tour starts near Scharek Mountain Station, turn into the route at the avalanche protector. Here you find wonderful slopes down to Fleisstal valley! There you take your skis on your shoulder and walk 10 minutes to reach Fleisstal lift.

 

Schareck Tour

A Tour Between 2, 250 And 1, 850m In Elevation

Coming from the south:

This is the ideal tour for nature lovers and beginners. The tour is rather short and not too steep. It starts at Spatzlalm (Piste 4) and leads you back to the piste.

More Details:

The tour starts at Schareck Piste besides Spatzlalm and leads trough a soft trough. Continue the route until you get back to Schareck piste and the mid-station.

Insiders' Tips For Backcountry Skiing

Although ski routes are perfectly secured you have to be very careful. Make sure you have the suitable gear and know about the weather situation and the current avalanche report. Our webcams always show you the current situation in real time.

Always act responsible when you are in high-alpine terrain. Never underestimate the danger of nature. So be careful: safety first!
