Like the ski stars

World Cup history is written in Hinterstoder - in the past, present and also in the future. Just think of Hannes Trinkl or Eveline Rohregger. The World Cup circus has been making repeated stops in Upper Austria since 1986.

Hinterstoder and the World Cup - they simply belong together! The signs of this go way back in time. The Stodertal valley in the Pyhrn Priel vacation region attracted the first ski pioneers as early as the end of the 19th century. In 1975, the first international FIS men's ski race took place in Hinterstoder. Since 1986, the Ski World Cup has been a regular guest in Upper Austria. For example with giant slalom and super-G in the 2015/2016 and 2019/2020 seasons.

Hannes Trinkl & Eveline Rohregger

Ski stars of days gone by from Hinterstoder

Hannes Trinkl & Eveline Rohregger - loyal fans of Austrian skiing are guaranteed to recognize these names! Two former pros who show that Hinterstoder has already produced one or two international ski stars in the past. And who knows who else will join them in the future ...

Hannes Trinkl
Hannes Trinkl and Hinterstoder? They go together - and not just since the opening of the Hannes Trinkl World Cup course in 2006. The race course dedicated to him is the only World Cup slope in Upper Austria and a special tribute to his active skiing career. As a downhill and super-G specialist, Trinkl won six World Cup races. He also became downhill world champion in 2001 ahead of his compatriot Hermann Maier. In 1998, he won the bronze medal at the Olympic Games in Nagano.

Even after his official retirement in 2004, the Upper Austrian remained involved in skiing. He has been Vice President of the Austrian Ski Association since 2005 and has also been FIS Race Director of the speed events since the 2014/2015 World Cup season. Hats off, Hannes!

Eveline Rohregger
Three-time Austrian champion, six European Cup races won and nine World Cup placings in the top ten: Eveline Rohregger's career is also impressive! Until 2006, the Hinterstoder-born giant slalom and super-G specialist was on the gas on the race course. She competed a total of 147 times in the European Cup and 106 times in the World Cup.
