The World Cup Region

Hinterstoder and world cup – two things that go together well! It all started way back in the past. As early as the 19th century the Stodertal valley attracted the first ski pioneers. In 1975 Hinterstoder hosted its first men’s FIS ski race and since 1986 the ski world cup has stopped regularly in Upper Austria. For instance, Giant Slalom and Super G 2015/2016 and 2019/2020.

Hannes Trinkl

Hannes Trinkl and Hinterstoder? That works – and not only since the opening of the Hannes-Trinkl world cup course in 2006. The only world cup course in Upper Austria is dedicated to Hannes Trinkl, six-time world cup race winner, one-time downhill world champion (2001) and Olympic bronze medalist (1998 Nagano).

After the end of his sporting career in 2005, he has been vice-president of the Austrian Ski Federation and since 2014/2015 FIS race director for speed events.

Eveline Rohregger
Three-time Austrian champion, six-time European cup race winner and nine top-ten places in world cup races. The Hinterstoder native and Giant Slalom/SuperG specialist started in 147 European cup races and in 106 world cup races.

Everyone who has watched the athletes live in Hinterstoder knows that they get down to business here! – down the mountain via Hannes-Trinkl-world cup course. That asks for courage, strong nerves and stamina on both sides, the athletes' and the audience's. Do you want to taste true world cup atmosphere? Are you ready to conquer this difficult race course? – or try the permanent race course on Ahornpiste and the FIS training course.

The ski racers of the future are perfectly looked after and equipped by the local ski school and the two ski rentals. A last glance at the open lifts and pistes and the interactive trail map and off you go!
