How to get to the Grossglockner/Heiligenblut ski area
By car:
- In winter, the Grossglockner High Alpine Road is closed (November to April/May) and therefore not passable.
- If you are traveling from Munich towards the Grossglockner/Heiligenblut ski area, it is best to drive via Kufstein Süd to Mittersill and the Felbertauernstraße. Once you have arrived in Lienz, Heiligenblut is only a stone's throw away. - Coming from the east, you can reach Klagenfurt, Villach, Spittal an der Drau and Heiligenblut via Vienna on the Südautobahn.
- In summer, all drivers coming from the north can take the Grossglockner High Alpine Road via Zell am See and reach the Grossglockner/Heiligenblut ski area quickly and easily. Tip: In summer, the road is a real Mecca for motorcyclists and motorsport fans from all over the world!
By bus and train:
ÖBB takes you comfortably by rail to Mallnitz station. From there, it's around 60 kilometers to Heiligenblut. Or you can travel to Lienz/Osttirol train station and cover the remaining 38 kilometers to the ski resort by public transport. Tip: Don't want to be dependent on the bus? Parking in Heiligenblut
...in winter To ensure that all ski guests have enough space, there are parking facilities at the valley station and at the middle station:
- Heiligenblut parking garage (approx. 3 min. to the valley station) with approx. 200 parking spaces
- Parking spaces at the Rossbach middle station/toll station with approx. 300 spaces
Both parking facilities are free of charge in winter and only a few minutes' walk from the ski slope!
...in summer In the warm season there are three parking options available:
- Heiligenblut parking garage (approx. 3 min. to the valley station) with approx. 200 parking spaces - for a fee
- Gletscherbahn/Kaiser-Franz-Josefs-Höhe multi-storey parking lot with approx. 800 parking spaces - please note: a toll will be charged!
