What is dynamic pricing and how does it work?

The idea of dynamic pricing is not new in itself: such systems have long been common practice in the area of air travel and hotel bookings and are taken for granted by guests. The dynamic pricing model continuously recalculates the prices for ski tickets. The current price is influenced by various factors such as the seasonal phase, the day of the week, the booking date or the current booking status. The price is calculated using an algorithm. Why is Grossglockner Bergbahnen Touristik GmbH introducing a dynamic pricing model?

We want to make our guests' experience on site even more enjoyable and keep our finger on the pulse as a company. The aim of the dynamic price model is to utilize our lift facilities evenly and make skiing more attractive during the low season. With the dynamic prices, we also offer our guests an attractive early booking bonus, from which families in particular will benefit, as they usually plan their ski vacations well in advance.

Why is dynamic pricing beneficial for families?

Families can book their ski passes in advance and save money. This makes skiing vacations easier to plan and often cheaper than in previous years. Thanks to Dynamic Pricing, we offer advance booking prices that are particularly easy on families.

You have the choice of booking early and saving money or booking at short notice and remaining flexible.

Price regulations

Will prices be higher on popular days or weekends?

This cannot be said in general. Early bookers can ski more cheaply than before, even on days when demand is high. However, high demand leads to higher prices.

Can the prices displayed fall?

No. The displayed price for a ski day corresponds to the best possible offer and will no longer decrease. The prices are recalculated daily, but remain unchanged for the current day. It does not matter whether the ticket is purchased in the morning, afternoon or evening. The price does not change during the day.

How are the prices calculated?

Our guests influence the price of the ski ticket through their booking behavior. The current price is influenced by various factors such as the seasonal phase, the day of the week, the booking date or the current booking status. The price is calculated continuously using an algorithm. The price displayed for the current day does not change during operating hours.

Will dynamic pricing generally make skiing more expensive?

No. Dynamic pricing means that skiing is cheaper on many days than before the introduction. On days with high demand, it becomes more expensive - if bookings are made at short notice.

How do I get the best price?

The best price is achieved by booking early in the webshop or at the points of sale. Prices are the same everywhere, regardless of where you buy. Therefore, if the price plays an important role in the purchase decision, it is not worth waiting. The price will most likely tend to rise due to the demand behavior of other guests.

Where can I buy ski tickets?

Online in the webshop and on site at the ticket offices: You will receive a reservation confirmation with a QR code that can be converted into a ticket at the ticket machine in the valley station and at all ticket offices.

The same prices apply everywhere. Those who book early benefit from the best price.

Can I buy a ticket at short notice?

Yes, of course. One of the great advantages of Dynamic Pricing is that you decide when and under what conditions you want to buy. You can also buy a ticket at short notice. Please note, however, that prices may be higher if you book at short notice, especially if demand is high.

Does the early booking discount also apply at the points of sale/box offices?

Yes, the prices are the same in the webshop and at all points of sale. The decisive factor is the time of booking.

Are there special offers or discounts for groups?

Yes, please contact us at grossglockner@skisport.com or check our website for special offers and discounts for group bookings.

Does the dynamic price model also apply to children and young people?

Yes, the dynamic price model applies to all age groups, so children and young people will continue to benefit from cheaper rates. The snowman ticket remains at € 10.00 and is available at the ticket office with a valid family ID.

Why should you book via the webshop?

Guests who book early online benefit from lower prices. The daily recalculated price tends to rise the closer the ski day approaches or the more demand has already been realized for a certain ski day. Early bookers therefore ski more cheaply than guests who buy their ski ticket at short notice or at the ticket office at the valley station. There will be no short-term price reductions.

How can ski tickets be booked online?

Guests can purchase their ticket conveniently from home in our online store at www.gross-glockner.at and pay by credit or debit card.

Where can I find the prices?

The prices can be viewed transparently at any time and for the entire season in the cable car web store. The price can also be observed if you do not wish to book immediately. However, it must be expected that this will tend to rise. The current (bookable) price is displayed by entering the desired date and the person categories

How and where can ski tickets booked online be purchased?

Guests receive a voucher with a QR code, which they can use to purchase their ski ticket quickly and easily at the ticket office at the valley station. The voucher does not necessarily have to be printed out, but can also be scanned on a cell phone. The chip card insert of € 5.00 will be refunded to guests if they return the undamaged chip card.

Can purchased tickets be exchanged or canceled?

No, it is generally not possible to cancel or exchange a purchased ticket. An exception applies in the event of illness or accident, whereby a medical certificate from a doctor in the region is mandatory (according to the General Terms and Conditions of Grossglockner Bergbahnen Touristik GmbH)

I don't have a credit or debit card. Can I still benefit from the early booking bonus?

Guests who do not have a credit card or debit card and still want to benefit from the early booking can purchase their ski tickets for a later date in advance at the valley station ticket office using the usual means of payment.

What happens if ski tickets are purchased in advance and the lifts are unable to operate on the day booked?

If no lifts are in operation on the booked day, guests will receive a refund as a gesture of goodwill in the form of a voucher for a one-day ski pass that can be redeemed on a date of their choice during the current season. If operations are suspended in whole or in part during the course of the day due to bad weather, safety reasons or force majeure (e.g. risk of avalanches), the customer is not entitled to a refund. There is also no entitlement to a refund in the event of operational disruptions or due to a seasonal reduction in lift operations. The General Terms and Conditions of Grossglockner Bergbahnen Touristik GmbH apply.
