Summer folder trail number 6
From the top station of the Höss cable car you can easily reach the eastern part of the Hutterer Böden at the Edtbauernalm via the Hutterer Böden trail entrance. Following the path to the outermost edge of the terrain, you should definitely experience the view into the depths at the "Gamssitz", an exposed rocky outcrop with a magnificent view of the "Obere Rottal" and the surrounding mountains.
Next to the path hewn into the rock, the terrain drops steeply and it is hard to imagine that in earlier times the farmers of Vorderstoder drove their cattle to the alpine pastures of the Huttererböden on this impassable cart path over the Redlstein. Today, you occasionally come across mountain bikers for whom this scenically beautiful route is both a pleasure and a challenge. In Unteres Rottal, the wild and romantic path leads into a forest road.
After about two kilometres, turn right and follow a forest path for a short while to reach the rustic alpine pasture of the Stodertal, the Steyrsbergerreith. It is worthwhile to enjoy a home-made alpine snack in front of an impressive mountain backdrop at this popular hiking destination.
The trail descends via forest paths to the Baumschlagerberg alpine resort in the municipality of Vorderstoder, from where you can be picked up by the hiking taxi. You can also hike back to Hinterstoder on foot. First along a short stretch of asphalt road, which then leads into the Stodertaler Panoramarunde (Stoder Valley Panorama Loop) and on comfortable gravel paths, with the mountain giants of the Tote Gebirge (Dead Mountains) constantly in view, slightly descending back to the village centre of Hinterstoder.
